Analyst Gregg Laskoski is wrong to suggest in an op-ed that the Renewable Fuel Standard should be reduced, writes Renewable Fuel Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen. According to a recent report, higher Renewable Identification Number prices reduce gasoline prices for motorists by encouraging refiners to use higher ethanol blends, he writes. "Oil companies and apparently petroleum analysts like Mr. Laskoski wholeheartedly support the reduction of the renewable fuel standard, not because of Renewable Identification Number prices or consumer costs, but because of profits and additional market share," Dinneen writes.
