Natural gas output from the Marcellus Shale is expected to increase from 14.52 billion cubic feet per day in April to 14.77 billion cubic feet per day in May, according to the Energy Information Administration's drilling productivity report. An expected increase in new well production per rig from 6.455 million cubic feet per day this month to 6.501 million cubic feet per day in May partially accounts for the rise in production, the agency said.
