The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will conduct additional oversight for Entergy's Waterford 3 nuclear power plant in Louisiana after issuing a "white" finding last week. The NRC said Entergy failed to ensure that the plant's exhaust fan, which keeps diesel generators from overheating, would work in emergency conditions. "While the licensee's failure to appropriately test the equipment in this instance did not have an impact on public safety, we expect licensees to demonstrate through proper testing the reliability of safety equipment to ensure the plant can adequately respond to an event," said NRC Region IV Administrator Marc Dapas.
