Scientists studying a high-resolution map of the fetal brain have identified specific genes involved in schizophrenia, autism and other brain disorders. The map was created using federal stimulus package funds under the auspices of the BrainSpan Atlas of the Developing Human Brain. Scientists also found significant differences between the human and mouse brains, explaining why brain drugs that show promise in mouse models often fail in humans.
