A coalition of financial and consumer groups, including the Financial Planning Association, has written the Securities and Exchange Commission a 15-page letter in support of a uniform fiduciary standard for financial advisers. "There is no justification for applying different standards of care to financial professionals who are offering the same services to investors," the coalition wrote in its letter to the SEC, which has collected testimony about a uniform fiduciary standard for the past 18 months.
