Morris Animal Foundation is sponsoring the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, designed to track the health of 3,000 golden retrievers over their lifetimes in the hopes of better understanding diseases that affect dogs and humans, such as cancer. Each dog's veterinarian will collect blood, urine, hair and nail samples at the dog's annual exam and submit them to researchers. Owners receive a $75 yearly stipend as well as free evaluation of any tumors removed from their dog during the study.
