Microgrid technology that relies on distributed generation and renewable technologies to increase the resiliency of power networks will experience a major expansion over the next six years, according to Navigant Research -- which expects capacity to grow fivefold by 2020, with North America as the main driver. Among other things, the transition will be driven by government incentives and the introduction of economical and efficient hardware and storage.
