A fivefold surge in bad loans would drop the capital-adequacy ratio of China's 17 systemically important banks to 10.5%, the People's Bank of China says in a stress-test report. Test results show that "Chinese banks' asset quality and capital adequacy level are relatively high", according to the report. "The banking system, as represented by the 17 banks, has relatively strong absorbent capacity."
