Prediabetes patients who followed a diet and exercise program had a lower incidence of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality during a follow-up of 23 years compared with those in the control arm, according to a Chinese study on the website of The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology. "These [new] findings provide yet further justification to implement lifestyle interventions in people with high blood sugar, as clinical and public health measures to control the long-term consequences of diabetes," said lead researcher Dr. Guangwei Li.
