Google has begun launching balloons in the Nevada desert as part of its Project Loon experiments and has extended the trials to Long-Term Evolution frequencies, according to a published report which quotes local officials and government filings. Google, although it is not commenting on the activity in Nevada, has said it wants to expand broadband services to under-served areas of the globe by flying radio-linked balloons about 65,000 feet in the air.
