Restaurant companies have been increasing their efforts to make healthier and less-fattening kids' meals. These include McDonald's, which added fruit and cut down on french fry portions, and Wendy's and KFC, which have added grilled-chicken options. Kids LiveWell, a joint program between the NRA and Healthy Dining, has grown from 19 participating restaurant brands to 145 in three years. "We've seen this as a top trend consistently for the past several years. It's clear the consumer demand and interest is there, and the restaurant industry has responded," said Joan McGlockton, vice president of food policy for Kids LiveWell.
