A study of 54,561 transradial intervention procedures performed at 704 facilities found that operators must perform 30 to 50 cases to gain technical proficiency. Procedure success, fluoroscopy time and contrast volume were selected as primary outcome measures by the researchers. The study data could contribute to "the development and adoption of formal TRI training guidelines" and "provide a national benchmark against which individual operators can track their progress along their own learning curves," the authors wrote.
