Data on 867 patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes showed that those who adopted three or four healthy behaviors -- such as getting regular exercise and cutting out alcohol -- had the lowest number of cardiovascular events, while those who followed just two health behaviors had 70% increased odds of heart disorders. Patients who did not follow any healthy behaviors were up to four times as likely to suffer a cardiovascular event, researchers reported in Diabetes Care.
