Four North Texas counties are joining forces to help stop the spread of West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne zoonotic disease that can cause illness and in some cases death. The area has been hit hard by the disease in recent years, and officials hope their proactive approach will help stem infections. "Increased vigilance by all of us will help identify and eliminate mosquito breeding locations throughout the area and also give us an edge in our collective battle against West Nile," said Dallas County health official Zachary Thompson.
