The Girls of Technology club at Jack E. Singley Academy in Irving, Texas, is making science, technology, engineering and math subjects more female-friendly. Assistant principal Kacy Barton helped launch the club to get female students to feel engaged instead of isolated in often male-majority classes. "Females think differently," Barton said. "Girls don't need foo-foo aesthetics. But they need color and labs that will appeal to them instead of walking into a cave."
