A study of location data for alcohol-related tweets shows patterns of consumption around the U.S. in this set of maps. Wine appears to be more popular on the coasts, while beer is popular in the Midwest and parts of the South. The study also shows that Bud Light dominates the light-beer market in the Eastern U.S., while Miller Lite has a stronghold in the Midwest and Coors Light has a strong presence in Colorado and on the West Coast. The data were collected by geographer Matthew Zook and his colleagues and appear in the book "The Geography of Beer."
