Fabio Gramazio and Matthias Kohler founded the first architectural robotic laboratory back in 2005 at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, but they only programmed the robots to build and create products that cannot be achieved through manual labor. An accomplishment of the duo was the use of flying robots in assembling an installation at the FRAC Center in Orleans, France. They are looking to the future, such as eventually constructing high-rise buildings using robots. "The most important message is that robots will change architecture in a deep way, will affect the processes which are behind the construction of our built environment," says Gramazio.
