Americans' choice to get married later in life is having a "staggering impact on real estate" that is largely going unnoticed, says Equity Residential Chairman Sam Zell. He predicts homeownership rates may drop to 55% as more people postpone marriage and having children, which will bolster even further the multifamily market.
The homeownership rate fell to 65.2% at the end of last year.
