A K-8 school in Barre, Vt., may have to place its plans to offer free meals to all students on hold because of an issue related to its foodservice contracts. State officials have said that entering the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Community Eligibility program could be considered a "material change" to the district's existing foodservice contract, which would mean re-bidding. School officials told the school board that without the USDA program, the school will have to raise meal prices.
