The proposed amendment to current regulations would allow carriers to have one flight attendant for every 50 seats, compared to the current one flight attendant for every 40 seats. Carriers say the change would maintain current safety levels and would not apply to international flights using wide-body planes. Meanwhile, Canada’s largest union believes the proposed change could create safety risks.
