The site security plan backlog of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program could be cleared in less than five years, a DHS official says. This is about half as long as previous estimates, said Suzanne Spaulding, the head of DHS' National Protection and Programs Directorate. To continue this progress, DHS has asked Congress for a long-term reauthorization of the CFATS program.
