Some minority high-school and college students in Maryland recently met with prospective employers in technology-related fields. The career symposium was sponsored by the Tech Council of Maryland and the MdBio Foundation, the latter of which has been reaching out to disadvantaged youth to promote interest in science, technology, engineering and math. "We want to let them know it's possible and if they have interest they should go for it," said Karen Long-Rowe, a principal scientist with Emergent BioSolutions, one of the employers attending the event.
