Nonresident arrivals in the Dominican Republic reached 445,018 in April, up 14.5% from a year ago and marking the largest year-over-year rise in its history, the country's tourism minister said. Foreign arrivals from January to April rose 6% from last year, with U.S. tourists representing the majority of those. Data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization show that the Dominican Republic was the most-visited Caribbean destination last year, welcoming 4.69 million visitors.
