A Georgia school district will receive strawberries throughout May from a local farm to include in school breakfasts and lunches. The initiative -- part of a farm-to-school program -- helps give schools access to in-season, fresh food. "Identifying locally grown items on school menus provides an opportunity to educate students about the healthfulness of fruits and vegetables, which will hopefully encourage them to try these nutritious foods," said Brittany Bingeman, wellness coordinator for Newton County School System in Georgia.
