A federal magistrate in Idaho was set to hear arguments Monday in the case of four same-sex couples suing to overturn the state's marriage equality ban. The couples filed a lawsuit in November contending that the state amendment banning same-sex marriage infringes on constitutional rights. Two of the couples are seeking to perform their vows in Idaho, while the other two are pressing for the state to recognize valid marriages performed out of state. Gov. Butch Otter has previously said he intended to do whatever was necessary to defend the constitutionality of the ban, this article says.
