The number of "ecoroofs" on buildings in Portland, Ore., has hit 424 and is equivalent to 22.49 acres. When including rooftop gardens, the number of green roofs has reached 571, covering 38.75 acres, but it still fell short of the city's goal to install 43 acres of ecoroofs by 2013. Installation of ecoroofs remains on the rise in the area, partly due to the city's incentives for developers.
