Mondelez International's North American business reported an operating income increase of 19% to hit $230 million in the first quarter as sales rose 5% in the cookie segment. Net revenues were up 2.5% to $1.7 billion. Mondelez also announced a $3.5 billion restructuring program to be completed by 2018 that will “create a leaner, simpler and more focused organization by reducing operating costs to best-in-class levels through zero-based budgeting and by accelerating its supply chain reinvention initiative,” according to the company.
