An IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics report found that the average price of oncology drugs has doubled in the last 10 years. A month's supply of the average brand-name treatment in the U.S. went from $5,000 in 2003 to $10,000 in 2013, while some drugs may cost up to $30,000 monthly. Americans are paying double or more for the same treatments because they are being treated by doctors whose practices were purchased by hospitals, according to the report.
