CVS Caremark has received approval from Rhode Island Health Director Michael Fine to open seven in-store MinuteClinics in the state under 22 conditions currently being reviewed by CVS. The conditions include some requirements that CVS already incorporates in its MinuteClinic model. Other requirements include increased uncompensated care, a $25,000 donation to the Rhode Island Physician's Loan Replacement Fund for each MinuteClinic that can't locate a primary care provider within five miles, and a 24-hour window for notifying a patient's primary physician of a MinuteClinic visit.
