Roche Bros. will open a small-format prototype store this weekend called Brothers Marketplace, which will offer traditional grocery items in addition to fresh and artisan products with a "farmer's market-like flair," the company says. The 11,100-square-foot store is far smaller than the retailer's 18 other supermarkets, which are between 30,000 and 70,000 square feet. A second Brothers Marketplace is expected to open this summer.
