Autism screening software that tracks eye movements matched the performance of experienced clinicians in spotting behavioral symptoms of the developmental disorder among infants, according to a study published in the journal Autism Research and Treatment. The software can measure subjects' reaction times in tenths of a second. Researchers plan to test an app based on the software for use in determining if more extensive screening for autism is needed.
