Soon, BIM will be used more often to help run and maintain structural assets, according to Steve Cockerell of Bentley Systems. As an example, Cockerell points to London's Crossrail project and how BIM is used in the project's asset lifecycle information management. More than 1 million assets will be cataloged, and the technology that manages it is expected to save nearly $85 million per year in operations and maintenance costs.
