Boeing has requested two exemptions from the Federal Aviation Administration in order to meet a delivery deadline for the 787-9. The aircraft manufacturer has asked for waivers for the ram air turbine and a knob on the mode control panel, which currently do not meet airworthiness standards. Boeing is scheduled to deliver the first 787-9 to Air New Zealand this month.
