About 70% of Turkish yogurt consumers use it as an ingredient in meals, but there is room for yogurt innovation in the country through products targeting young children, tweens and health-conscious adults, according to Danone Turkey's Marketing Director Ricardo Travassos. New yogurt products accounted for less than 5% of sales for the period between 2008 and 2013 in Turkey, which is the largest consumer of yogurt per capita in the world, but demand for modern yogurt is outpacing growth of traditional products, Travassos said.
