The size and frequency of distributed-denial-of-service attacks continue to rise, as evidenced most recently by assaults on the news aggregation site Feedly and online notes platform Evernote. The attacks -- which hit Tuesday -- affected more than 100 million users. According to company officials at Feedly, the perpetrators attempted to extort a monetary payment to cease the DDoS assault.
