A gold coin embossed with the image of Roman emperor Nero dating back to between A.D. 64 and 65 has been found in northern England at the site of what was once a Roman fort near Hadrian's Wall. The coin, known as an aureus, was found in a newer archaeological layer, suggesting it had been in circulation for more than 300 years.
