After months of rallying for financial assistance, the Graue Mill Homeowners Association in Hinsdale, Ill., received a $626,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for a flood control project that will protect the development from Salt Creek. Storms in 2010 and 2013 caused the creek to overflow, causing more than $5 million in damage and requiring some residents to be rescued with boats and dump trucks.
