Window-washing company Men in Kilts grew from one location in British Columbia, Canada, to five units in the country and five in the U.S. in just a few years, boosting revenue from $1 million in 2012 to nearly $7 million forecast for this year, according to company CEO Tressa Wood. Franchising allowed the company to centralize parts of its operating systems, such as the call center, which resulted in rapid expansion and the ability to "just focus on growing the business," Wood said.
