A survey from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth found that 70% or more of the state's manufacturers searching for workers did not tap vocational schools, community colleges or other training programs for students as possible leads, even as these schools are stepping up their focus on manufacturing. The study also showed that 90% of manufacturing firms were willing to provide basic-skills training, but only 79% had the resources.
