World Cup frenzy fuelled a 2.2% jump in sales at the UK's non-food retailers in May, but it wasn't enough to offset a slump in grocery sales, according to the Office for National Statistics. Overall May retail sales fell 0.5% from April, but sales were up 3.9% over the same month last year and the longer-term trends still seem strong, economists said.
