Rooftop solar panels have been installed on the south-facing roof of the Madison Elementary School in Minnesota at no cost to the school. The installation was paid for by private investor JJR Power, as well as a power purchase agreement involving the school district. The rooftop solar energy system is expected to generate savings of $5,000 annually, and more than $100,000 over the next 30 years, said Michael Piper, CEO of General Energy Brokerage & Consulting, which helped the school district with the financing.
