SCAI released new recommendations for treatment of aorto-iliac peripheral arterial disease, saying that in the majority of cases, endovascular intervention is preferred over aorto-iliac endarterectomy. "Endovascular treatment has a success rate of more than 90% and a low mortality rate, making it an appropriate treatment strategy when lifestyle approaches and exercise are no longer effectively controlling symptoms," said lead author Dr. Andrew J.P. Klein. The recommendations were published in Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions.
