Two Brown University researchers argue that underrepresented groups are not being adequately helped through the so-called pipeline to science, technology, engineering and math careers. In a new paper in the journal BioScience, Andrew G. Campbell and Stacy-Ann Allen-Ramdial urge four improvements: large-enough minority enrollment to foster comfort; collaboration between research universities and heavily minority colleges; faculty engagement in diversity; and expression of diversity ideals in the actual campus atmosphere.
