Silicon Valley tech firms are advancing the national conversation on privacy and cybersecurity by working to improve their own security awareness and transparency, and by pressuring the federal government to do the same. On Thursday, Yahoo, Google and Twitter -- part of an advocacy group called Reform Government Surveillance -- marked the anniversary of the Edward Snowden leaks by penning a letter to lawmakers urging them to pass legislation increasing privacy protections.
