The Department of Energy has given almost $4 million in grants to expand education and training of nuclear science students at five colleges in an effort to provide skilled workers at nuclear sites in Georgia and South Carolina. Uniquely, many of these programs will also be of interest to other industries in our region," said Lisa Palmer, chair of the Nuclear Workforce Initiative of the Savannah River Site Community Reuse Organization, which is managing the grants.
