The pending Comcast-Time Warner Cable and AT&T-DIRECTV mergers, and 21st Century Fox's pursuit of Time Warner, are among the deals hanging over the heads of small cable-network groups such as AMC Networks, Discovery Communications and Scripps Networks. Those networks are increasing their investments in original content and pursuing international business, according to this report, as they have "few obvious options" to expand through their own deals.
