DVRs, video-on-demand services and streaming video have added to people's overall viewing time rather than subtracting from their live TV habits, according to a Nielsen first-quarter report. Time-shifted viewing grew to 34 minutes per day, up roughly 17% from a year earlier, while people spent an average of 5 hours and 10 minutes per day with live TV, virtually the same as in 2013. "Video-on-demand has matured into a significant platform for content delivery and discovery," Nielsen's Dounia Turrill said.
