Verizon Wireless had a banner second quarter, adding 1.4 million contract subscribers and drawing a record number of new tablet customers, Lowell McAdam, CEO of parent company Verizon Communications, told CNBC on Thursday. He added that margins for the company's fixed-line business improved over Q1. McAdam also said Verizon had no plans to buy DISH Network or make any major deals. DISH "has got some great spectrum," but "buying the whole company doesn't make sense for us," he added.
