Microsoft announced that it is joining the nonprofit Industrial Internet Consortium -- a group formed by AT&T, Cisco Systems, Intel, IBM and GE to advance the development of standards and solutions to power the emerging Internet of Things. "In order for us to collectively realize the full potential of IoT, it's imperative we have the right conversations as a community to enable these new and emerging devices and cloud services to be able to communicate and interact properly," wrote Kevin Dallas, Microsoft IoT general manager.
