In this study of all surviving subjects in the Single Ventricle Reconstruction Trial without cardiac transplant, measures of behavior and quality of life at age 3 years were significantly lower than normal. For children with single right-ventricle anomalies, lower behavior and quality of life scores are associated with medical morbidity. Therefore, all children with single right-ventricle anomalies should be followed long term for earlier detection of delays.
